Why Lope left La Promesa?

Lope has left La Promesa, but why?

In the fifth season of La Promesa, the situation between the servants becomes tense. The servants, instigated by Vera, are against the housekeeper Teresa, and Ballesteros can no longer tolerate the malicious gossip directed at Teresa. That is why he urges Teresa to confess the truth about Lope to Vera.

Lope did not leave La Promesa because the butler fired him. There is a secret behind everything, and it is time for Teresa to reveal it to end Vera's resistance.

Teresa confesses the truth about Lope

Teresa calls Vera to tell her that Lope didn't leave the mansion because of Teresa or the butler. Lope left because he wanted to leave. He didn't have the courage to confront Vera and tell her the truth.

Teresa remembers how Lope asked her for a favor after Ángela and the Captain's failed wedding. Lope asked Teresa to get the butler to fire him. Lope told Teresa that on don Lorenzo's wedding day, one of the most influential families in the country had offered him a job as a chef in their house.

After the Madame Cocotte affair, Lope was inundated with job offers from the most luxurious homes and the best restaurants in the country, but he turned them all down, and there was only one reason: Vera. Lope had promised Vera that he wouldn't leave the mansion without her.

However, this was a unique opportunity for Lope that he couldn't refuse, especially since he was unhappy with his situation at La Promesa. Despite the congratulations and the chance to serve at the wedding, he was still just a servant, and he didn't think he would be able to return to the kitchen permanently. But if he accepted the offer, his situation could change and he could become a chef again. If everything went as Lope hoped, he could offer Vera the life she truly deserves.

Teresa urged Lope to talk to Vera and tell her the truth, but Lope reminded him of his promise and that Vera wouldn't understand why he wanted to leave. That's why he needed an external reason. The butler telling him to leave. And for that, he needed Teresa's help. And finally, Teresa agreed.

Vera breaks Up with Lope

Vera is shocked to learn the truth about her boyfriend's departure, and decides to write Lope a farewell letter.

"How could I have imagined that you wanted to leave, that it was your own decision to take care of your future and leave everything else behind? How could I have imagined that you would abandon me? And above all, how could I have imagined that you lied to me, that you lied to me when you left, and that you would continue to lie to me in every letter you write?

Why, Lope? Weren't we a couple? Aren't we going to face everything together, whatever it is? What you've done is so disgusting, so despicable... that I don't know if I can ever forgive you. I just hope that everything will work out in the end and that you manage to make your dreams come true.

Never write to me again. Goodbye, my love."

One of the characters dies in a shooting in the fifth season of La Promesa. But who? And who is the shooter?

Vera's father arrives

It all starts when Vera's father, the Duke of Carril, arrives at La Promesa, and Vera's nobility is revealed to all the residents of the mansion. The father wants to take his daughter away, but Alonso opposes it and Vera refuses to leave with her father. When he leaves without Vera, the father threatens to report his daughter's kidnapping to the National Guard. Manuel promises Vera that they will take extra precautions to prevent the Duke from returning to the mansion.

Meanwhile, Santos confesses to Petra that he killed her mother, and not Ricardo. Petra promises Santos that she will not reveal this. Petra believes Santos when he claims that her mother's death was an accident.

But then the Duke of Carril sneaks back to La Promesa to take his daughter Vera home by force, at gunpoint. Vera and a new character, Julieta, stand in his way. Finally, two shots are heard in the Luján mansion. Who will the shots hit?

Victims of the shooting

Santos and Julieta are hit by bullets from the Duke of Carril. Vera cries for help, and the Duke flees the scene. Manuel arranges for the wounded to be transferred to their rooms. The new footman Carlo and Samuel carry Santos, while Ciro and Manuel do the same for Julieta.

Dr. Peribáñez performs emergency surgery on Julieta, and everything goes well.

Santos is not so lucky. The doctor tells Ricardo and Petra that the bullet damaged Santos' heart blood vessels. Surgery or transfer to a hospital is not possible. Therefore, Santos does not have much time left to live, he will die.

Santos dies

Ricardo tells his son Santos that the doctor can do nothing for him. Santos refuses medication, he wants to say goodbye to his colleagues with a clear mind. Cristóbal and Teresa tell Alonso that Santos is terminally ill. Alonso demands that they find another doctor, but Cristóbal assures him that the footman has no chance of survival. Throughout the day, Santos says goodbye to Petra, the cooks, and Carlo, clearing up old issues with each of them.

Manuel spends hours by the bed of an unconscious Julieta. The situation inevitably reminds him of what he experienced with Jana.

Pia enters Santos' room, and finds Ricardo watching over the body of his dead son. Ricardo cries in Pia's arms. Cristóbal informs the family of Santos' death.

Julieta begins to convulse, and falls into a critical condition. Manuel is terrified.

Manuel asks his father to report the Duke to the guards. Alonso tells him that the Duke of Carril has disappeared.

Ciro and Lorenzo blame Vera for everything that has happened, but the Marquis rebukes them and declares that Don Gonzalo is solely responsible. Alonso suggests to Vera that she stay at La Promesa, but Vera hesitates.

Cristóbal and Teresa coordinate the shifts of the staff to attend Santos' funeral. Ricardo is completely broken.

Finally, Vera agrees to stay at La Promesa. Ciro believes that Vera's presence endangers them all.
