In the Spanish drama series La Promesa, María Fernández becomes scandalously pregnant out of wedlock. The news of María's pregnancy especially surprises María's beloved Samuel. On the wedding day, a shocking twist happens: Ángela is found dead in her wedding dress. The series hints that she may have poisoned herself to avoid the forced marriage. In the series La Promesa, the housekeeper Petra Arcos' health suddenly deteriorates and she appears to be dying.
