After receiving a wound while gardening, Petra begins to suffer from pain and weakness. She has seizures associated with severe pain and faints in the hallway. She later has another seizure in her office, where she loses strength and mobility in one of her arms.
During the seizure, María Fernández finds her and tries to call a doctor because Petra seems really unwell. However, Petra tries to downplay the situation and claims that she is fine, even though she is clearly suffering from serious symptoms.
Then a surprise is revealed: Petra's illness is tetanus.
The disease begins when Petra cuts her hand in the garden with a dirty tool. The bacteria from the wound enters her body, and gradually she begins to develop symptoms.
When the doctor finally notices the wound and associates the symptoms with it, he realizes that it is tetanus. He tells the other characters that "we're too late, Petra is going to die", as the disease is often fatal if not treated in time.
However, in the series, there are still attempts to save her, they try to get Petra a tetanus serum. Petra even gets last rites.
Petra is on the verge of life and death. As Samuel races against time to find a life-saving serum, the servants and masters are stunned by the news.
Manuel arrives just in time with the tetanus antitoxin.
In the end, Petra does not die.
Although her condition initially appears fatal due to tetanus, she receives timely treatment: tetanus serum and appropriate medication. Thanks to this, her life is saved, and she gradually begins to recover.
