Jana's death is one of the most dramatic and long-running plot twists in La Promesa, and a great mystery surrounded it for several months before the truth was revealed in the Spanish episodes.
Initially, Cruz was accused and arrested for the murder, although she herself denied her guilt.
The real culprit in Jana Expósito's death was Leocadia, one of the series' long-standing characters. She shot Jana and later also ensured her death by using poison because Jana was a threat to Leocadia and her secrets. Especially since Jana was starting to reveal things to the police, and threatened to expose Leocadia's actions.
Leocadia had a strong motive for revenge, and she went to extreme lengths to protect her own secrets while trying to harm others.
Will Jana come back?
Well, what do you think? Unless it's a Pamela of Dallas-level dream, or La Promesa turns into a supernatural ghost or zombie drama, the answer is no.
Jana's death was shocking, but that's what happens when actors want to leave a show. In the case of La Promesa, it's very understandable, the pace of work must be absolutely terrible. Not to mention the homework, or learning lines. I've never understood how soap opera actors can do that.
