Spoiler: Who finds out Jana's murderer in La Promesa?

Viewers of La Promesa already know that Leocadia murdered Jana. However, apart from Lorenzo, the characters in the series do not know who is responsible. Eventually, someone uncovers facts linking Leocadia to Jana's death.

Pía and Curro had already established that Jana was poisoned with cyanide, but now Pía is investigating the source of the poison.

The revelation comes as a shock to her, as the killer is not someone she would have immediately suspected.

Leocadia’s Hidden Identity

In connection with the cyanide, Pía comes into possession of several letters signed by Mercedes del Amor. She begins to investigate Mercedes del Amor’s identity. As Pía delves into the contents of the letters and connects the clues within them to Leocadia’s past, she realizes that they are not two different women. Mercedes del Amor is Leocadia!

Mercedes del Amor is the person who obtained the poison that killed Jana, and thus the one who murdered her.

Leocadia has managed to pose as a completely different person at La Promesa and conceal her past. Pía’s discovery means that Leocadia’s true identity and her connection to Jana’s murder are now at risk of being exposed.

Pía is subsequently faced with a very difficult dilemma: should she tell Curro that Leocadia killed Jana? She realizes that the truth would be particularly devastating for Curro, given that Leocadia is the mother of his fiancée, Ángela.
