La Promesa: Who is Angela's father?

Is Cristobal Ballesteros actually Angela’s father in La Promesa?

In the fifth season episodes of La Promesa, Leocadia claims to Cristobal that he is Angela’s father. This move is intended to keep the butler by her side. True to form, Leocadia is lying.

Who is Angela’s father?

A new character arrives at La Promesa in the series' fifth season: Angela’s father!

The identity of Angela’s father has long been a mystery in the series. Could it be the wicked Captain Lorenzo? Or perhaps Leocadia’s secret lover, the butler Cristobal Ballesteros? Previously, Leocadia had denied that any of the potential candidates were the father.

A Letter

Alonso receives a letter from an old friend, Máximo de Buenaventura, announcing that he is coming to visit La Promesa.

"Uncle Max", as Manuel and Curro call him, is a good friend of the Marquis of Luján. The two haven’t seen each other for 15 years, and now Max wishes to pay a visit to the Luján family.

Alonso is thrilled by this unexpected reunion. He describes Máximo as a truly good person, and quite possibly the best friend he has ever had.

Leocadia’s Fear

After Máximo arrives at La Promesa, Leocadia avoids encountering him at the estate. Why?

While watching Ángela and Curro, Máximo reveals to Leocadia the true reason for his return.

Máximo wants to meet his daughter!

He explains that he has come to make up for the time lost with his daughter, Ángela.

Leocadia, the Gold Digger

Máximo claims that Leocadia was only interested in his title. He knows that she got pregnant by him to further her own interests. According to Máximo, she was nothing more than a gold digger in their relationship.

That is why Máximo ended things with her. Leocadia’s scheme to get pregnant did not succeed in making Máximo to marry her.

How will Angela react when she discovers the identity of her father? Find out more in upcoming La Promesa spoilers here on this blog.

Viewers of La Promesa already know that Leocadia murdered Jana. However, apart from Lorenzo, the characters in the series do not know who is responsible. Eventually, someone uncovers facts linking Leocadia to Jana's death.

Pía and Curro had already established that Jana was poisoned with cyanide, but now Pía is investigating the source of the poison.

The revelation comes as a shock to her, as the killer is not someone she would have immediately suspected.

Leocadia’s Hidden Identity

In connection with the cyanide, Pía comes into possession of several letters signed by Mercedes del Amor. She begins to investigate Mercedes del Amor’s identity. As Pía delves into the contents of the letters and connects the clues within them to Leocadia’s past, she realizes that they are not two different women. Mercedes del Amor is Leocadia!

Mercedes del Amor is the person who obtained the poison that killed Jana, and thus the one who murdered her.

Leocadia has managed to pose as a completely different person at La Promesa and conceal her past. Pía’s discovery means that Leocadia’s true identity and her connection to Jana’s murder are now at risk of being exposed.

Pía is subsequently faced with a very difficult dilemma: should she tell Curro that Leocadia killed Jana? She realizes that the truth would be particularly devastating for Curro, given that Leocadia is the mother of his fiancée, Ángela.

Spoiler: Is Samuel leaving La Promesa?

Samuel faces a difficult decision in the series La Promesa: should he leave for missionary work?

He has found himself in the middle of a painful love triangle. He still has feelings for María, but she is expecting a child with another man, footman Carlo.

The idea of leaving for missionary work is increasingly taking root in Samuel's mind. However, the decision does not stem solely from a religious calling, he also wants to escape the situation at La Promesa.

La Promesa Samuel

María and Carlo’s relationship changes everything

Samuel considers whether he should tell María the truth about his feelings. However, the situation is complicated by María’s pregnancy.

Things become even more difficult for Samuel when María and Carlo begin appearing as a couple. María is expecting Carlo’s child, and they intend to try to build a future together.

Samuel is forced to watch from the sidelines. He begins to realize that confessing his love might not change anything. On the contrary, it could make the situation even harder for everyone involved.

Samuel decides to stay silent

Samuel tells Pía about his desire to confess his feelings to María. However, Pía advises him against doing so.

Samuel ultimately reaches the same conclusion. He does not tell María that he loves her.

The decision is painful for Samuel, but he tries to accept that María belongs with Carlo now. At the same time, he gives María his blessing for her new relationship, even though it clearly hurts him.

Missionary work becomes an escape route

As María and Carlo publicly confirm their relationship, it becomes increasingly difficult for Samuel to remain at La Promesa.

Petra pressures him to leave for missionary work as soon as possible. The idea is simple: if Samuel goes far away, it might be easier for him to forget María and move on with his life.

But it is not just about love. Samuel also has to decide what will happen to the shelter he founded. Leaving for missionary work would mean he could no longer look after it. The shelter is important to Samuel, he does not want to abandon the people he has tried to help.

Could someone else take responsibility for the shelter? Petra volunteers for the role, but the shelter is plagued by constant financial problems.

Will Samuel leave La Promesa?

Samuel wants to leave. He wants to break free from his feelings for María. He wants to do what he feels is right. He wants to try to forget María and accept her relationship with Carlo.

For a while, it seems as though Samuel is about to leave La Promesa behind.

The letter

But then, Samuel receives a letter from the diocese. Instead of opening it himself, he hands it to Petra to read. The letter states that Samuel’s departure for missionary work has been postponed.

So, Samuel doesn't leave. He stays at La Promesa.

Undying Love

After that, Samuel still tries to keep his distance from María. He has decided to accept the fact that María and Carlo are together.

However, Samuel admits to María that it is not easy for him to see her with Carlo. María, in turn, reveals that her relationship with Carlo is not as happy as it might appear from the outside.

La Promesa Maria Samuel

This information changes Samuel's situation. He had tried to convince himself that María had made her choice and that he simply had to accept it. For the first time, this gives him hope that the story between him and María might not be over after all.

However, Samuel does not want to pressure María. He knows she must make her own decisions. That is why he continues to keep his distance, even though his feelings for María are far from gone.

Then Carlo finds out about María’s past relationship with Samuel, which breeds further mistrust between the couple.

Eventually, María and Carlo break up, and María immediately turns to Samuel for comfort...
