A heinous crime has occurred in La Promesa: Lope's exquisite illustrated recipes have been published in a newspaper under the name of Madame Cocotte. Who has stolen Lope's recipes? Who is the mysterious Madame Cocotte?
It all started when Lope drew a picture for Simona and Candela to help them learn one of his great recipes. But Lope is furious when the same dish appears in the newspaper with the same drawings, ingredients and instructions. What's worse is that the recipe is attributed to a mysterious "Madame Cocotte".
Lope knows that someone at La Promesa must have copied his recipe. Vera wonders if it could just be a coincidence. But Lope thinks it can't be, such a big coincidence would be impossible.
Who could be the culprit? In the case of Madame Cocotte, there are several suspects, starting with Simona and Candela. Vera tells Lope that the two were excited and showed the recipe to everyone. So the entire staff has seen Lope's recipe, even Mr. Ballesteros. Lope suspects everyone except Vera. He has also questioned the cooks who suggest that he publish an illustrated cookbook.
After questioning the suspects, Lope sets out to set a trap to find the culprit.
The Recipe Thief Is Exposed
But then Petra, La Promesa's former housekeeper, discovers that Santos has stolen Lope's recipes. Ricardo Pellicer's son offers Petra a deal: a share of the spoils. Santos makes money by sending Lope's recipes to the newspaper. Will Petra succumb to the dark side, or will she make the right decision?
Eventually, the newspaper publicly reveals that Madame Cocotte is Lope. This revelation significantly raises Lope's status. Madame Cocotte's fame brings him prestige, and even job offers from fine houses and restaurants.
The gentlemen of La Promesa praise Lope after learning that he is Madame Cocotte, and Lorenzo entrusts him with the catering for his wedding party.
